Everest helicopter tour prices, explained

The online price is only part of the cost. Format, fees on the day and the price basis decide what you pay in the end.

The short answer

The price of an Everest flight depends first on the format: a seat in a shared helicopter is sold per person and a private group tour gives your party the whole helicopter. On top of the online price many listings name fees that you pay in Nepal on the day, such as national park fees, and on several flights breakfast at Hotel Everest View. For the private flights the listings do not say if the starting price is per person, so check the option on the booking page. The table on this page shows every helicopter flight at today's starting price.

Prices come live from Viator and GetYourGuide and are the starting price on the booking page. National park and other fees that the listings ask you to pay in Nepal on the day come on top.

What drives the price

  • The format. In a shared or small-group helicopter you buy one seat and share the aircraft with up to five or six passengers. A private group tour books the helicopter for your party.
  • The landings. Flights differ in where they set down: Kala Patthar and Base Camp on some itineraries, Pheriche or Syangboche below Hotel Everest View on others. The landing points page lists them.
  • Fees on the day. Many listings name what you pay locally: a national park fee or two national park permits, an airport tax, a Khumbu fee or government taxes and permits. Some listings name no fees, which does not mean there are none.
  • Breakfast at Hotel Everest View. Several listings say it costs extra or is not included; the breakfast page shows which.

Check the price basis

A shared seat is priced per person, and the table says so. The private group tours show a starting price without saying if it covers one person or the whole helicopter. Open the options on the booking page and count the seats your group needs before you compare one flight with another. Shared or private compared.

The cheapest listing is not always the cheapest day

Add the fees on the day and the breakfast to the online price before you compare. A flight that names its fees on the listing can work out cheaper than one with a lower starting price that says nothing about them. The fact sheet on the comparison page lists the fees each listing names.

Ways to keep the cost down

A shared seat is the way to pay for one place rather than a whole helicopter. Booking with free cancellation, up to 24 hours before departure on every helicopter flight here, lets you secure a date early and change your plans later without losing the online price.

FAQ

How much does an Everest helicopter tour cost?

The table on this page shows the current starting price of every flight. A shared seat is priced per person. For the private flights the listings do not say if the price covers one person or the helicopter, so check the option on the booking page. Fees on the day come on top.

Which fees do I pay in Nepal on the day?

That depends on the listing: a national park fee or permits, an airport tax, a Khumbu fee or government taxes and permits. Breakfast at Hotel Everest View costs extra on several flights. Ask the operator if a listing names no fees.

Is a private helicopter priced per person or per helicopter?

The listings do not say. Open the options on the booking page before you book and count the seats your group needs.
